Darn Good Planet

Sustainable Sewing!

We (me and my family!) really believe in doing the best by our planet and with that in mind

we've worked hard to source materials that minimise environmental impact.

There's always room for improvement! So if you have ideas that could make our products even more sustainable we'd really love to hear from you.  This is what we do so far...

Hoops - Our Hoops are made in the UK by a family run business

(Elbesse in Stroud - just 20 miles from where we are based).

The are crafted using FSC certified wood.

Fabric - Our recycled linen has been spun using fibres from textile industry waste.

It's been verified under the Global Recycled Standard and it's super lovely too!

We also use organic cotton, it's unbleached and is GOTs and OEKO-TEX certified.

Pattern Print - Our patterns are printed just 5 minutes walk away from our base!

They are printed by the wonderful Amy using non toxic inks and a heat transfer process

that doesn't require a ton of water compared to other dye transfer methods. It's quick, clean and easy.

Threads - We use DCM Cotton Thread. All of their dyes are Oeko-Tex certified, an internationally recognised textile standard that ensures their products are environment-friendly and safe to use

and have been controlled for harmful substances.

Packaging - Our boxes are made from recycled materials and are biodegradable

(though you might want to reuse them!).

Our tissue paper is FSC certified and printed using soy based inks.

It's recyclable too (and made by a small family business called Tissue and Tape).

Post Cards & Prints - Our postcards and prints are printed on 100% recycled paper

using inks made from organic biomass which makes them fully recyclable too

(though you may want to keep them or post them!).

Extras! Our Wadding is made from 70% Recycled Cotton, 30% Recycled Polyester.

Our backing boards are made from 100% recycled card

and our ribbons are made from recycled plastic bottles!

And! At least 10% of what you pay for your purchase will go towards small charities who are making a big difference to the wellbeing of people around the world. We are currently supporting The Flying Seagull Project (check them out at they are amazing!).
